JANE ZISK
Jane Zisk is the Founder of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. She established the group in 1995 to promote fellowship among artists and to use the group format as a marketing tool. While painting at Weir Farm in the early 1990's, Jane was inspired by the American artists who were painting in Cos Cob, Branchville and Old Lyme in the late 1800's and decided to carry on the plein air tradition made popular by J.Alden Weir, Childe Hassam, and others. At present her group has over 80 members and has been active in raising money to save Connecticut Farm Land for the past four years, has an upcoming event sponsored by the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Nation and a September 2005 show at the Connecticut River Museum. Articles about the group have appeared in the Sunday New York Times, Northeast Magazine, American Artist Magazine and an upcoming article in Plein Air Magazine.
Artist Statement
My art is a reflection of nature and its basic elements. Archetypal images appear and reappear throughout. The energy that moves throughout the meridians of self transforms into color and form on the flat surface of the paper. I am inspired by the natural world and it's many faces seen and unseen. The art spirit speaks through me; I am merely a voice. A great deal of inspiration is derived from my T'ai Chi and Reiki training. |
